To love a glass of Red

A critique and hopefully lively discussion of red wine and life. Why Wine? Wine is a sensory festival. Wine holds the memories of every anniversary. Wine is sharing with people I love. It is conversation starters with friends and an end to debates with rivals. Wine goes great with food and I love food! Wine has been proven to contain compounds which may aid the immune system, block cancer formation, protect against heart disease, and possibly even prolong life. Lastly, I ask, Why not Wine?

Coming soon: Wine night

So currently in the works is a wine tasting night!!
YAH!!!
Everyone will be bringing a bottle of 7 to 10 dollar wine and their laptops.
We will sign on and list the wines as well as a picture of their labels.
We will all be signed on and partaking in good wine, good food, and great discussions.

Anyone who is available Sat. evening the 11th or the 18th let me know which date you prefer and if you want to participate.

What are you tasting for?

When you drink your wine keep this in mind.

1.Body: lots of alcohol = full-bodied /low on alcohol = light-bodied

2.Weight: does the wine feel heavier in your mouth

fuller more substantial vs. light and refreshing

3.Depth: not one dimentional

4.Texture: how does it feel on your tongue - soft/firm/coarse

5.Complexity: are the flavors subtle or bold or both

6.Varietal correctness: basically does the merlot taste like merlot

7.Length:swallow the wine, does it linger, for how long, is it pleasant?

8.Balance: Does it have the following: Tannins, Acidity, Alcohol, and Sweetness - do they balance the wine (Note they don't have to be equal but they do have to go together)
